Our new indoor farm aiming to push urban ag forward.
Since we moved in, we’ve been transforming the former Sears headquarters into a unique food ecosystem that includes the world's largest rooftop greenhouse, a distribution centre, and now…our new indoor farm!
This urban farm features Green Automation technology (typically used in greenhouses) with a hydroponic growing system and a thousand energy-efficient LED lights. Providing optimized light, energy, and nutrients to a variety of crops without using any fossils, we’re out to prove the viability of low-cost indoor agriculture.
We’re starting off growing lettuce, spinach, celery, basil, kohlrabi, fennel, and watercress, harvesting over 20,000 units of veg a day at full capacity. We're super proud to be able to provide fresh, local, responsible produce to Lufavores, and we're motivated to continue exploring innovative ways to grow food in our city and beyond.
