We’re welcoming Ottawa to the Lufavore community.

As we mark 15 years of Lufa Farms, we’ve been reflecting on how far we’ve come. Looking back, it all began with the world’s first commercial rooftop greenhouse, planted right in Montreal’s Ahuntsic borough. Since then, we’ve expanded our greenhouses, built a thriving network of local farmers and food makers, and grown a community of dedicated Lufavores who share our vision. Now, we’re beyond excited to take this next step, welcoming our neighbours into the fold…starting with Ottawa.

We’re officially extending our deliveries to Canada’s capital. That’s right - on March 4, 2025, we’re kicking things off, bringing fresh, local, responsible food straight to the doorsteps of Ottawa’s surrounding communities. Our mission has always been to change the way people eat, and opening up to new cities is another step in making that happen. 

Ottawa has been on our radar for years, with countless eager folks asking when we’d bring our baskets to their neighbourhood. With grocery prices climbing and the demand for local options growing, access to nearby farms and producers has never mattered more. And with Gatineau just a hop, skip, and a bridge away, expanding into Ottawa feels like the obvious next step - connecting more people to a food system they’ve been waiting for. 

Our mission has never been tied to just one city. From day one, we set out to prove that a better food system was possible - one that brings urban farming and nearby producers together to show how good local can get. Expanding to Ottawa is a big step moving forward, but this is only the start. As we reach beyond Quebec, we’re more committed than ever to grow, innovate, and push forward until fresh, local, responsible food is the norm, not the exception.
