What to expect in our basket this winter?

Hey all! We hope you're enjoying your basket and the wonderful produce recently harvested from our partners' fields and orchards.

We've had a relatively warm Fall (after a rather cold month of August) and luckily we're receiving weekly arrivals of dozens of vegetables. But some of you have been curious: what will you find in your Lufa Farms basket this winter?

The best of Quebec's seasons

As the days get shorter and the temperatures colder, we will slowly see the varieties of local (and mostly organic) products on our Marketplace change. The good news is that we maintain an interesting selection of vegetables throughout the wintertime, including (but not limited to) garlic, onions, carrots, parnsnips, potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes, squash, cabbage, endives, leeks, beets, turnips, black radishes, and apples.

Plus over 50 varieties of tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, peppers, greens and herbs from our two rooftop farms! Isn't it like magic eating a beautiful local tomato while it's snowing outside?

Good news for the locavores of Quebec. So much more coming to the Marketplace...

The good news is that we're working hard to prepare the arrival of a new food categories. You've asked for it, so we're going to make it happen: dairy products and eggs! And, why not, tofu?!

Imagine how wonderful it'll be to open your basket and get an artisanal cheese, organic milk, and local eggs each week. You might need to bring an extra resusable bag to your pick-up point, but eating local will become even easier and more delicious.

Expect eggs, cheeses, tofu and more.

We're treasure hunters and we hope you're as excited as we are about the awesome additions we plan to add this winter.

This week on the Marketplace

Discover "mouse melons" or cucamelons, the most adorable veggies out there, grown by Serres Ovation in Lanoraie, QC. These look exactly like the watermelons you'd expect a tiny mouse to eat, but taste more like cucumbers with a bit of citrus.

Visit the Marketplace to see what's waiting for you this week and don't forget to follow us on Facebook for more greenhouse updates and recipes.
