Double the space to serve Lufavores better.

We’re no stranger to moving. In 2019, we made the switch from our smaller Ahuntsic distribution centre to a bigger space in Ville Saint-Laurent - you can read about that move here! Over the last couple years, we’ve completely changed our packing system (from bringing products to baskets, vs now bringing baskets to products), doubled the number of Lufavores we serve, and tripled our Marketplace offering. Our warehouse quickly felt that growth and by 2021, it was clear it was time to start working on finding a new space.

Our new warehouse, just one floor above our previous space, was built with efficiency and comfort in mind to support nearly 30,000 (and counting) baskets a week. Thanks to the team's diligence, our deliveries were only interrupted for one day and the move was nothing short of seamless.

Here’s a peek of the before and after…

Pre-move

Our old distribution centre used shelving - although this was great at first, the shelves became crowded as we added new products.

We projected that this warehouse would meet our needs for five years, but thanks to the growth of the Lufavore community, we reached our max capacity earlier than expected.

Post-move

With clearer signage and groupings of only one item per location, it’s easier for our packing team to identify what they need. And thanks to the wide aisles, they can also now move past others more easily and without congestion delay.

Our new fridge and freezer are as big as the entirety of the old distribution centre. With all this new space, we can phase out our use of off-site storage, improving our efficiency and giving us 100% control of our inventory.

Our new state-of-the-art, custom-built spiral conveyor belt will take your baskets on a smooth ride down straight to the delivery vehicles - four times faster than our last one.

Here’s Lassaad sharing his excitement for the new space on day one in the new warehouse:

A huge shoutout to all the team members who spearheaded this project and did everything they could to make sure the transition went smoothly - from planning new electrical entrances to building furniture and every last detail in between. We're continuing to streamline the space and can't wait to pack more baskets in our new, optimized warehouse!
