DescriptionAt Lufa Farms, we’re on a mission to create a better food system and a huge part of this is achieved by growing food where people live, and growing it responsibly. This led us to build the world’s first commercial rooftop greenhouse in 2011, followed by the world’s largest less than a decade later. With six urban farms (and counting!), we’re looking for a Building Engineering Intern to support the Building Engineer in their daily tasks.Alongside the maintenance team, the Intern will ensure the maintenance, repair, and optimization of the building infrastructures to ensure their proper functioning, safety, and durability.Responsibilities•Participate in the development and implementation of a preventive maintenance plan for the various building systems;•Inspect equipment and installations to identify potential signs of deterioration or malfunction;•Respond to system breakdowns or failures;•Diagnose the causes of technical issues;•Oversee the proper functioning of fire safety systems, elevators, heating, air conditioning, and other complex systems;•Recommend and implement improvements to reduce energy costs and improve equipment efficiency (insulation, lighting, etc.);•Support the maintenance team with any other ongoing projects.Requirements•Student in mechanical engineering, building technology, or technical infrastructure management;•Bilingual (French and English);•Basic knowledge of mechanics, electricity, or building systems management;•Skills in diagnosing and solving technical problems;•Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies and techniques;•Team spirit and good communication skills.Schedule•40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.Benefits•You’ll be eligible to participate in the firm’s health insurance, dental and disability programs after completion of the probationary period (paid 50% by the employee and 50% by Lufa Farms);•Access to TELUS Health Virtual Care (direct contact to health professionals by phone, video, or chat) and the Employee and Family Assistance Program (professional, short-term counselling, covering a broad range of interpersonal issues);•30% discount on your Lufa Farms basket.
