All aboard the Ahmad-Express: the story of Ahmad and his decade of service to Lufavores.
Ahmad Khattab takes people person to the next level. Although he may not be the loudest voice in the crowd, his calm nature and empathy show up in his work in a way that has changed us for the better.
As a brave, bright-eyed Palestinian, 18-year-old Ahmad moved from Lebanon to Canada by himself. Although his family is still overseas, he lives with his wife Sara here in Montreal. And with a love of ancient history, he reads up a storm in his spare time, very interested in learning about the past as a way to understand the present.
Joining our team in 2011 (look at that youngin’!) as the sole member of the customer service, Ahmad held down the fort. With his attention to detail and vigorous work ethic, he helped build our community into what it is today.
Knowing our founder, Mo, before he started the job, he was able to understand the values and integrity of the company first-hand, and the idea of fresh, local, responsible food really resonated. Since then (even before customizable baskets were a thing), he’s been watching and helping the company grow into what it is today. Using his job to improve his people skills, not to mention his French, he developed a knack for sustainability and business.
Lassaad, Ahmad, and Nuno, three OG members of our first customer service team.
In 2020, Ahmad decided it was time to broaden his horizons, and start a business of his own. But fate willed otherwise, and the new entrepreneur quickly encountered the obstacles of the unprecedented pandemic. As our community of Lufavores doubled overnight, Mo called Ahmad to see if he could lend a hand with (you guessed it) deliveries. Of course, he accepted without hesitation.
Today, Ahmad runs one of our three third-party delivery businesses and exclusively helps bring your baskets from the Marketplace to your doorstep. With his background in customer service, Ahmad has honed a solution-oriented approach, often fixing delivery issues before we even hear about them. And to get it all done, he hires hardworking, dedicated people, who show they care about their job - because at the end of the day, that’s the pillar of his company.
Still as dedicated to Lufavore satisfaction, Ahmad receives feedback from us and makes sure to address everything thoroughly with his drivers, in a constant effort to improve his services, while feeding into our ongoing improvement process. On our end, we’re constantly working with him and our other delivery partners to integrate better communication resources (like French translation tools for individuals that have just arrived in Quebec), develop better ETA tracking tools, help electrify our fleet (Ahmad now has four and counting), and improve overall client-company relations. And it’s still a work in progress.
At the end of the day, we’re so grateful that we’re still part of Ahmad’s incredible journey, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him and his team!
