Granola, spices & other delights

Ode to Grandma Emily's incredible granola

Since childhood, granola bars have been an integral part of our diet (almost daily, or is it just me?)! If I ate 3 bars per week between the age of 5 and 21 (end of my B.A.), that's nearly 2,400 bars (sometimes of dubious quality) that I ate, more often during recess, between classes, or to replace a dinner while working on a final exam or paper. In short, we eat lots of granola in a lifetime!

As we become adults, I feel granola becomes more of a breakfast thing (at least, in my case, maybe because I ate too many as a kid). It's also the option that I usually skip when it comes the time to choose my Sunday brunch...but Grandma Emily's granola changes everything.

Grandma Emily's Granola is actually Andrea Courey's granola, president of this small company based in Ahuntsic (literally our neighbor). She is passionate about cooking, premium ingredients, and health. It's her amazing Syrian grandmother who inspired her to get into this adventure almost 20 years ago.

Grandma Emily's Granola is made with love and you can taste it. It's crunchy and delicious, though without fuss (quite authentic: no fruit or nuts added). This leaves it up to you to add your favorite yogurt and seasonal fruit. Let yourself get inspired by their recipes. The bars are truly tender and tasty, the perfect snack or complement to your lunch. Crunch.

What would cooking be without spices? The universe of La Fine Fleur de la Tapani.

Our rooftop vegetables are so good that we clearly don't need any spices or salt to eat them. However, most of us do not eat only raw vegetables and love to cook with spices...

To celebrate our love for cooking and flavors, we introduce you to the world of spices as conceived by Paulette & Gilles on their organic farm in Ste-Anne-du-Lac, where they have been cultivating garlic and garlic flower for several years. All products of La Fine Fleur de la Tapani are made of raw ingredients believed "to provide what nature does best in terms of flavor and virtues."

Have fun exploring their flavors!

What Quebec fields and woods have in store for us...

  • Local organic products of the earth:  fresh garlic, aillet, zucchini, romaine lettuce, broccoli, and more. To discover, visit the Marketplace!
  • By the way, here's a little advice: you may have noticed, but some products show as "sold out" on the market (rather quickly, we might add). So don't wait before you add them to your basket. As soon as you receive the email announcing the opening of the market, don't hesitate to get right to customizing your basket. And it's also worthwhile to go back to the Marketplace a few times before your basket delivery...there might be some new arrivals!

Meanwhile in the greenhouse...

  • Cucumber Plant Pull

Oye! We just removed four rows of cucumbers that have given us so much in the last months. The new crop will be planted this week, and we're already looking forward to having them in the basket again (in about four weeks). In the meantime, Mr. Basilic's amazing pickling cucumbers (not just for pickling) and the Lacoste Greenhouse Lebanese cucumbers are available on the Marketplace.
