New arrivals: from radicchio to share-the-love veggies

To all of our members, next week's baskets have some neat items from our farm, our partner farms, and the Quebec wilderness (yep, some foraged goodies for the gatherer in you).

First off, we have organic red spinach from our partner Mr. Basilic (photo above).

Radicchio

Next up, radicchio. A red-leaved chicory with crisp leaves and a slightly bitter taste.

Partner Farm: Mr. Basilic

Suggestions:

  • Can be eaten raw or cooked. Remove the middle part (the heart), wash and dry the leaves.
  • Radicchio leaves, hearts of palm, apple, and raspberry dressing
  • Cooked in olive oil, with lemon and served as a side dish

Wild Sedum

We also have a sampling of wild sedum, a native succulent plant also known as stonecrop or orpine. Gathered by the good folks at Runaway Creek in Arundel, Laurentians.

Partner Farm: Runaway Creek

Suggestions: Add to any salad

Share-the-Love

With the long sunny days this time of year, the harvest is plentiful, and we'd like to share this bounty with the community. Log in to your marketplace and add a free "share the love" vegetable to your basket to share. Help us spread the word and turn more Montrealers on to local foods.

Coming soon to the Marketplace: our bakers' treasures...

You might have noticed that we have some warm freshly baked bread and pastries from La Bête a Pain and Le Fromentier on the Marketplace. We are really excited to be partnering up with our neighbours and pick up points...and stay tuned for more news on this.
