Avoid eating your fiddleheads raw.
Eating raw fiddleheads may result in a food poisoning. Make sure to follow the cooking instructions in order to keep your tummy happy.
How to cook your fiddleheads.
- In a large amount of boiling water cook your fiddleheads for about 15 minutes.
- Discard the water and then proceed with sautéing, frying, baking or using them in mousses or soups.
Freeze your fiddleheads for later use.
- First boil them for two minutes and discard of the boiling water.
- Plunge them into cold water and drain.
- Pack your fiddleheads in freezer containers or bags and store in the freezer for up to one year for best quality.
- When it’s time to cook them just follow the above-mentioned instructions on cooking them.
- Make sure never to re-freeze your thawed fiddleheads.
